In my advanced Italian classes, I use current events on a regular basis. I browse through the websites of the most popular Italian newspapers and select the news to discuss in class. Sometimes I design original lessons based on specific current events, always making sure to cover themes from different fields (see section: AP sample of activities for examples). Also, every week I ask students to search for interesting current events and write a summary and and a good comment. I sometimes ask students to work in pairs (see attached document for guidelines).
